About the Holiday Dinner.
For a number of years our members and friends have taken the time to come together to share in the festivities of the Holiday season. This event allows friends, spouses, girl & boy friends and families to enjoy good food, a light non-technical aviation presentation and a night of fun and prizes. Regardless of where you're from or what your beliefs, we share the bonds of peace and joy the Holidays bring.
This will be the eight year that we've held the event at Villa Milano and there's plenty of room for all who wish to attend at this venue. The decorations that greet you at the entrance of the restaurant are sure to get you in the spirit of this marvelous time of tinsel, trees, lights and music.
This year's Presentation.
Guest Speaker - Mr. Bill Albers - Champaign Aviation Museum, Urbana, Ohio
Topic: "The Champaign Lady B-17 Restoration Project."
We wish to thank Bill Albers and his wife for attending this year's Central Ohio Aviation Holiday Dinner and giving the presentation on the history of the B-17 Bomber and an update on the Champaign Lady Project. Bill was a child in Europe when the US Army Air corps and British flew bombing missions over Nazi occupied territory and the German homeland. He later immigrated to the US after a short stay in Canada and worked here as an engineer.
His presentation had several slides that showed the Boeing aircraft that became the B-17 and tracked the progress of the airframe with culminated in the B-17G model at the end of World War II. He showed photos of the several aircraft that came together along with many hand fabricated parts being used to remanufacture Champaign Lady. I've save a few of the many highlight slides from the presentation for your viewing below. Thanks for being a part of this year's Holiday Dinner!
